"FARSEEK is a rock band based out of Georgia and North Carolina. Since 2014, FARSEEK has been touring the eastern half of the country almost non-stop with bands such as Worst Party Ever, Snacking, and Kerosene Heights. In 2021, the band self-released their first studio album, Standstill. In 2023, they released their follow up EP, Intent, on Chillwavve Records.

FARSEEK masterfully blends the poppy elements of bands like Bomb the Music Industry, the blistering country rock riffs of Dinosaur Jr., and the ethereal dreamy sounds of the World is a Beautiful Place to create their own unique sound."

"Resistor, hailing from Long Island, New York seamlessly weaves crushing riffs, breakdowns and low-tuned guitars with a classic nu-metal sound we all know and love. Along with their dedicated turntablist Anthony Arce, the band consists of Anthony Grambo (vocals), Ian Schneider (bass), Anthony Conti (guitar) and Peter Smith (drums/vocals). They have been touring consistently since 2021 supporting bands like Filth, Southpaw FLHC, Decayer and many more. If you’re feeling nostalgic but still want that modern heavy sound, then look no further. Their newest music, produced by Randy LeBoeuf (Kublai Khan, Boundaries, Dying Wish, etc.) is the culmination of everything Resistor has aspired to be. You can check out the newest single ‘I AM NOTHING’ now, with the next single ‘ARE YOU HAPPY NOW?’ set to drop in June 2024.

Welcome to the Sewage Crew."

Oscura Presents:

Ordinary Boys - The Tribute to The Smiths & Morrissey

with

New Dawn Fades - A Tribute to Joy Division & New Order

---

"Ordinary Boys was formed in December of 2010 by vocalist AJ Navarrete, as a tribute to the music of Morrissey & The Smiths. The band chose its name after the song 'The Ordinary Boys,' from Morrissey's debut album ‘Viva Hate,’ and as an homage to the concept behind 'The Smiths' name.

The band performed its first show at the iconic Churchill’s Pub in Miami, Florida. Initial approval from Smiths and Moz fans resulted in a string of regular apperances across Florida. The unexpected success that followed has made Ordinary Boys one of Florida’s best kept secrets.

In recent years, the band has evolved through several lineup changes, with an increased focus on perfectly emulating the sound of their Manchester heroes. This continuous evolution has taken the project to the next level, giving fans the ultimate The Smiths and Morrissey experience.

Their fun and energetic sets includes such hits as 'How Soon is Now?', 'There is a Light', 'Irish Blood, English Heart', 'Ask', 'Big Mouth', 'Queen is Dead', 'Panic', 'This Charming Man', 'Suedehead' and lots more."

"Mechanics of Melody and Songs of the South, this Ballad bending and Soul blending Dirt Road Rock & Roll Duo are dead set on throttling up the tone, while keepin it Down Home. Riley “Rowdy” Anglen from Nashville, Tennessee, and JJ Revell from Tampa, Florida, have been wrenching on tour and hammering out songs together for nearly a decade. “After many years and a million miles of touring, The Handlers just seemed to form out of a close camaraderie, and a shared love to create music." says JJ. Rowdy adds, "We thought to ourselves, we've done this for so long, for so many other people, why don't we just bootstrap and do it for ourselves." And like true Cowboys of a Craft, and with a little Divine Dixie inspiration, The Handlers fired up their engines, and put it in Gear. Current Releases can be streamed everywhere"

"Transcending their innovative musical stylings seamlessly through space and time, Florida natives Fiends use their heavy metal vehicle to deliver a sonic experience like no other.

Blending inspirations spanning their deep-rooted love of progressive metal, the introspective distortion soaked angst of 90s grunge, to the likes of bands featured on the Matrix Reloaded soundtrack.

Their 2018 release Me Time, feauring the hit single "Keep Me in the Dark," has accumulated millions of streams and reached fiends across the globe.

"The ease with which Fiends are able to flow between driving grooves and melodic sensitivity is amazingly satisfying. While a good chunk of the album is rife with unhinged aggression, the moments of tranquility and reflection are what makes the music really shine." - Metal Sucks

Fiends sophomore record, Insolent Noise, pushes boundaries in every direction whilst paying homage to their debut album."

"SPIRITUAL CHAOS is an American Metal band based right out of the heart of Tampa, Florida. Formed in Spring of 2022, the band has since released two EPs, "Beyond Language" (2023) and their most recent work "Desolate Dreams" (2024). Unbound and unbothered by the formulaic industry standards, SPIRITUAL CHAOS uniquely blends thought-provoking lyrical ideas with heartfelt aggression, technical prowess, emotionally driven melody, and hook catching grooves into songs that not only speak true to who they are as musicians, but provide something of meaning for audiences alike. With powerful sounds and charismatic live performances, they offer something new and refreshing for people to enjoy.

In an effort to bring unity within a disconnected world, SPIRITUAL CHAOS reminds us that we all share something in common, the human experience. With two EPs now under their belt, they're only getting started and are set to be a powerhouse worthy of your attention."

"Founded in Tampa in 2023, Persephone’s Choice is making waves as one of Florida’s freshest rock n’ roll bands. The all-female group puts a slick twist on the hearty sound of 70’s nostalgia, infusing it with anthemic power. They released their highly-anticipated debut single “Hold Me Down” in November 2023, followed by “Waterfall” and “Demons” soon after. The band has landed supporting slots for artists like The All-American Rejects, Hannah Wicklund, and Judah & the Lion, and they have more shows as well as new music on the horizon.

Reel Equals Film Festival Pink Carpet Kick-Off Party

Join us at Oscura Coffee and Cocktails for a Pink Carpet Party to kick-off the 26th annual Reel Equals International Film Festival. Come see a series of short films, including “Culture War,” a documentary centered on the clash between New College students and the Florida state government.

Reel Equals International Film Festival, produced by Through Women’s Eyes, presents local audiences with a carefully curated selection of shorts and feature films from all over the world, all intended to provide an understanding of how media shapes our behaviors and life choices, and why broader media representation is so critical.

The festival starts off Friday March 7th, with opening night at Ringling College, and continues March 8-9, with films showing at Sarasota Art Museum. You can see the full line-up of films and purchase tickets at https://twe2023.eventive.org/

"Razor and the Boogie Men are a stoner punk trio from St. Petersburg, Florida. RATBM's debut self titled EP was released in January, 2020. This EP drew inspiration from horror punk, surf rock and the blues. RATBM's early performances often drew comparison to the Dead Kennedys and The Misfits. Their follow up EP "I Want Nothing" saw the band delve deeper into their punk roots. "I want Nothing" was recorded live at the WMNF885 radio station and released in June, 2020.

RATBM's 2023 release, "Roach Motel", took the punk influences that were so prevalent on their first two EPs and ran them through a psychedelic filter. "Roach Motel" takes inspiration from Stoner Doom, psychedelic rock and new wave disco. RATBM has opened for punk heavy weights, Strike Anywhere and feminist punk rockers, War On Women. In 2023 RATBM became featured artists for Quilter Amplifiers."

***************************************

Mamalarky’s tenderly tangled indie rock has the internal logic of ridiculous jokes shared between band members after spending weeks on the road together. The sum of friendships and collaborations dating back to their teenage years, the band melds flashy instrumental moves with head-sticking hooks and lovesick lyrics welcoming anyone into their private world. While Mamalarky are ostensibly an indie-pop group, they stand out from the laid-back melancholy moods of contemporaries with complex instrumental interplay that inspires lean-forward listening.
